A Heavenly Flame (天火) is not a technique or a pill — it is a living fire, one of a handful said to still exist, each with its own temperament and its own idea of who deserves it. Twenty-two are named and ranked here, from the Dark Yellow Flame's plain, unglamorous heat up to the Emperor Flame, which does not burn hotter than the rest so much as own every element fire could be.
A cultivator carries at most one, ever. Devour a flame with nothing already burning in you and it settles in. Devour another afterward and it is refused unless it is genuinely stronger than the one you already hold — in which case the old one is consumed and remade into the new. There is no ceremony to it beyond that, and no realm or Ascension gate stands in the way.
Worth being upfront about: this release does not add a loot table, mining drop, or in-world discovery path for the flame items themselves — that fantasy isn't shipped yet. In 0.1.0, a flame reaches a player only through an admin's own hand, via `/heavenlyflame give` or the new Players-tab admin row. The devour-and-replace mechanic, the full 22-flame ranking, and everything it changes about a cultivator are real and complete; populating flames into the world is the next step, not this one.
At a glance
- 22 named Heavenly Flames, ranked Emperor Flame down to Dark Yellow Flame
- Devour to gain one, devour a genuinely stronger one to replace it — never two at once
- 15 tunable stat channels: Qi gain, damage, defense, charge speed, ritual ease, Dao affinity and more
- Open registry, so another addon can contribute its own 23rd flame
How a flame is gained
Right-click the item, and BTTH's own devour-and-replace rule decides what happens.
- Hold nothing, devour a flame — it settles in, and the item is consumed.
- Already hold that exact flame — devouring another does nothing, and the item is not consumed.
- Hold a flame that is equal or stronger than the one offered — refused, item not consumed.
- Hold a flame that is genuinely weaker — the old one is consumed and remade into the new. At most one flame per cultivator, ever, enforced in code.
- In 0.1.0 there is no loot table, mining drop, or crafting recipe for the flame items — they reach a player through an admin's `/heavenlyflame give` or the Players-tab admin row (see below), the same code path either way.
Twenty-two flames, one ranking
Every element in the mod has at least one flame that answers to it.
- Five tiers — Mythic, Legendary, Superior, Greater, Lesser — each roughly halving the edge of the tier above it.
- The Emperor Flame (rank 1, Mythic): “The flame every other fire yields to without being asked. It does not burn hotter than the rest — it simply owns every element that fire could be, all at once.” The only flame that ignores Dao-element lock entirely.
- The Nihility Devouring Flame (rank 2): “A black flame that eats rather than burns. What it touches is not consumed by heat but unmade, folded back into the nothing it came from.”
- The Bone Chilling Flame (rank 10): “An extreme cold born once a century, when an eclipse meets a deep Yin. It holds an odd coexistence of cold and heat, and is said to freeze a whole region still.”
- The Dark Yellow Flame (rank 22, honest about being the weakest): “Plain beside every flame above it, and honest about it — steady, unglamorous heat that toughens rather than dazzles.”
- `/heavenlyflame list` shows the full ranking with tier, element, and disabled status, open to every player, not just admins.
What a flame actually changes
One registered modifier source, feeding every bonus a flame carries — same mechanism the Sacred Bodies addon uses.
- Qi gain and meditation Qi, damage dealt and unarmed damage, damage taken reduction, technique charge speed, and ritual ease.
- Damage-cause immunity by Dao element — the Red Lotus Fire ignores Fire damage outright, the Bone Chilling Flame ignores both Ice and Fire, and so on per flame.
- Dao-element affinity and Dao-element-lock bypass, Yin/Yang alignment shift resistance and Yin-Yang balance tolerance, and cosmetic aura scale.
- Every bonus scales off the flame's own tier, not a flat number, so an Emperor Flame and a Dark Yellow Flame carrying the same perk are not carrying the same weight.
In-game reference
- Two Codex articles: an overview of the devour/replace rule with a live tier-multiplier table, and a full live-ranking article that flags your own held flame and any the server has disabled.
- Cultivation's own Overview panel gets rows for your held flame, tier, and live Qi Gain / Damage / Damage Reduction / Ritual Speed bonuses.
- A Players-tab admin row (“Set Flame”) lets an admin set or clear a player's flame directly from Cultivation's own admin panel, choices listed best-to-worst — the same code path as `/heavenlyflame give`, so the two surfaces can't drift apart.
For server owners
- Five admin config sections: General (master on/off), Tiers (the five tier multipliers), Perks (all twelve active base percents, editable with tooltips), Reserved (two inert alchemy fields, clearly labeled not-yet-active), and Availability (retire any individual flame from the roll without touching a player's save).
- Every rate lives in the config — nothing is hardcoded per server.
What it needs
- Cultivation 0.9.1 or newer — the manifest will stop an install on anything older.
- Server-side only. Your players install nothing.
