Terms of Service

The terms for buying and using mods from The Trove on mermaids.dev.

On this page

The short version: you buy mods for your Hytale server, we deliver them and keep them updated, and neither of us shares things that aren’t ours to share — you don’t redistribute the mods, we don’t redistribute your data. The long version follows, in plain words.

Last updated: October 13, 2026.

Who we are

Siren’s Mods operates this site, mermaids.dev, and its store, The Trove. When these terms say “we”, that is who is meant. When they say “you”, they mean the person holding the account that accepted them — buying anything from The Trove is accepting them.

We are not Hypixel Studios. Hytale is the property of Hypixel Studios, and nothing here is affiliated with, endorsed by, or made by them. The mods sold here are independent, fan-made server addons.

Your account

You sign in with your Hytale account, so your account here is anchored to it — keeping your Hytale account secure is keeping this secure. You can also link a Discord account from your account page: once linked it can sign you in as well, and it is how purchases grant roles in our Discord server, but a new account can only be created through Hytale. You must be at least 13 to hold an account here.

We can suspend or close an account that is used to abuse the store: sharing paid files, reselling access, fraudulent payments, or deliberately breaking things. That is the only reason we close accounts.

If you are under 18

Being old enough for an account is not the same as being old enough to agree to a payment. If you are under 18 — or under whatever age counts as an adult where you live — ask a parent or guardian before you buy anything here, and pay only with a card or account they have said you may use. A subscription charges again every month until someone stops it, so that permission has to cover a repeating charge, not just today’s one.

Completing a purchase is telling us you have that permission. If a charge turns up on your card because someone in your household bought without asking, tell us in the Siren’s Cove Discord server: that is a conversation we would far rather have than a bank dispute, and it normally ends in a refund and the access being withdrawn.

What you are buying

Everything in The Trove is sold one of three ways, and each behaves differently. The product page always says which applies.

Subscriptions

A subscription grants every paid mod in its family — including ones added to the family later — for as long as it is active.

  • Renewal. It bills monthly until you cancel, to the payment method on file.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep access until then, nothing more is charged, and you can undo it at any point before it ends.
  • When it ends, by cancellation or failed payment, access to those mods ends with it: your downloads for them stop working and you should stop running the jars. Anything you bought outright is untouched.
  • Plan changes modify your existing subscription rather than starting a second one, so you are never billed twice for the same mods. Price differences are prorated onto your next invoice.
  • Price changes never apply mid-period. If a price you are paying is going to change, we will tell you before a renewal at the new price happens.

Bought outright

A one-time purchase is yours permanently, including every future update of that mod. It does not expire, and it survives any subscription ending.

Bound to a name

Some content is applied in-game to the single Hytale username you give at checkout — there is nothing to download. You can correct the username from your account page afterwards, a few times per month; the limit exists so purchases cannot be shuffled between players indefinitely.

Three things worth being plain about, because this content follows you onto servers we do not run:

  • Your money supports the mods’ development, and nothing else. No Hytale server you play on receives any part of it, sells it, or endorses it — buying here is not “donating to the server”, and no server owes you anything for it.
  • Name-bound content is cosmetic. A title, an appearance, a flourish — never stats, items, or a gameplay advantage over other players.
  • A server can decline it. Delivery happens through the mod, and every server can disable store benefits in its config. If a server has switched them off, that is the operator’s right, not a delivery failure we can override.

The license

Buying a mod buys a license to use it, not the mod itself. Plainly:

  • You may run the mods on servers you operate — including public and community servers — and make whatever private modifications your server needs.
  • You may not redistribute, resell, or publicly re-host the files, share your download links, or present the mods as your own work.
  • Subscription mods may be run while the subscription that grants them is active.
  • The rebranding add-on, while active, additionally licenses presenting those mods under your own server’s name and branding to your players. It does not transfer authorship or permit redistribution.

If you want to do something these terms don’t cover — bundle a mod with a modpack, feature it commercially — ask. The answer is often yes.

Discord perks

Purchases can grant roles in our Discord server, Siren’s Cove. When you linked your Discord account you authorized us to add you to that server; roles are attached to what you hold and are removed when it lapses. Perks in Discord are a courtesy alongside the purchase, not the purchase itself.

Loyalty points

Every account is in the loyalty program, at no cost. It is a thank-you for buying from us, not something you buy, and it is one program across xianxia.dev and mermaids.dev: one account, one balance and one standing in both stores.

Standing

Your standing comes from the total you have paid us by card since your account was created.

StandingUnlocks atPoints per $1
Outer DiscipleEvery account8
Inner Disciple$50 paid12
Core Disciple$125 paid16

Standing does not decay or reset with time. A refund or a lost chargeback lowers it by the amount returned, which can move you back down.

Earning points

  • Every card payment earns points: mods bought outright, subscription payments and their renewals, and plan-change charges.
  • Points are counted on the final price you actually paid, after any promotion code or discount, rounded down to a whole point.
  • The rate is the one for the standing you held before that payment. Reaching a new standing raises the rate from your next payment.
  • Anything you get with points earns no points, and neither does anything free.
  • Card payments made before the program launched on October 13, 2026 were credited when it launched, at these same rates and in the order they were made.

Spending points

  • 100 points are worth $1 toward a mod bought outright, in either store.
  • Points pay for a whole order or none of it. They never take part of a price off, and they cannot pay for a subscription or the rebranding add-on.
  • An order paid with points is delivered at once, like any other, and is listed in your order history and your points history. It carries the same license as if you had paid by card.
  • Points do not expire while your account is open.

What points are not

Points are a reward attached to your account, not money and not property. They have no cash value, and they cannot be bought, sold, exchanged for money, refunded to a card, or moved to another account. Closing your account, or having it closed under “Your account” above, ends its points.

Refunds and chargebacks

  • When a card payment is refunded, in full or in part, or lost to a chargeback, the points it earned are taken back in proportion, and your standing drops by the amount returned.
  • If those points were already spent, your balance can fall below zero. You cannot spend points again until new payments bring it back above zero, and we may withdraw what the spent points paid for.
  • An order paid with points cannot be refunded to a card, because no card paid for it. The refund policy says when one can be undone; when it is, the points come back instead.

Changes and mistakes

  • We may change the rates, the standings, or the program itself. A change applies from the day it takes effect, and points already in your balance keep their value.
  • If we ever end the program, we will say so here at least 30 days ahead, and you can spend your points until then.
  • We correct points credited by mistake, and remove points gained by abusing the program, such as through fraudulent payments or refund abuse.

Mods and Hytale updates

Hytale changes, and mods must chase it. We keep the mods sold here working with current Hytale versions on a reasonable-efforts basis, and version histories on each product page show that record. What we cannot promise is that any mod works with every past or future Hytale version, with every other mod, or on every server setup. The mods are provided as is.

Refunds

The refund policy is its own page, and it is part of these terms.

If things go wrong

We are a small operation selling game mods, and the stakes should match that. To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect damages — lost profits, lost worlds, lost server communities — and our total liability for anything arising from the store is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights that consumer law gives you and does not let us take away.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, the change will be visible here with a new date at the top, and material changes to how subscriptions bill will be told to subscribers before they renew. Continuing to use the store after a change is accepting it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s country of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes belong to the courts there — except where consumer law entitles you to your own.
