Landlord lets the owner of a personal Cave Abode take on one tenant. The tenant is let past the abode's protection, and in return for a share of whatever the Spirit Spring has banked — a percentage the landlord names when they sign the tenant on — they can walk in and collect that share themselves. What they leave, the owner collects as usual. When the arrangement sours, one command ends it, whether or not the tenant is online to hear about it.

It is a small addon on purpose. It adds no new kind of dwelling and never subdivides an abode: the tenant's access is the same trusted-guest pass `/cultivation abode` already hands out, and their cut is drawn through the same partial-withdrawal the spring already uses for closed-door seclusion. The addon changes nothing in Cultivation itself and keeps its own tenancy records in its own file.

Every message it sends is written in the voice of a landlord who is not mad, just disappointed. In all five of Cultivation's languages.

At a glance

  • One tenant per personal abode, at a percentage of the Spirit Spring you set — within the server's floor and ceiling
  • The tenant collects their own cut from inside the abode; the rest stays banked for you
  • Eviction works whether or not the tenant is online
  • Zero changes to Cultivation itself: built entirely on the base mod's existing abode primitives
  • Free. Sign in and download it.

Being a landlord

  • `/landlord rent <player> <percent>` signs an online player on as your tenant for that share of the spring. You need an abode of your own first, and it has to be a personal one — a sect hall belongs to the whole sect, not to any one member to sublet.
  • `/landlord evict <player>` ends the tenancy and revokes their access. It resolves the name against the tenancy on record, so it works even when the tenant is offline.
  • `/landlord status` reports the arrangement you are party to, on either side — who, what share, the room's name, and whether the spring is still being sustained.
  • One tenant at a time. To replace them, evict first.

Being a tenant

  • You are told the moment you are signed on, and what your share is.
  • `/landlord collect`, standing inside your landlord's abode, draws your percentage of whatever the spring has banked since anyone last drew from it. Standing outside does nothing — funny how that works.
  • If the spring has nothing banked, you are told so. It is not obligated to perform on your schedule.

For server owners

  • Three settings in `LandlordConfig.json`: a master switch that disables every command while leaving existing tenancies recorded, and a floor and ceiling for the tenant's percentage (10% and 90% by default), so a landlord always keeps something and can never sign a cut too small to be worth the paperwork.
  • Tenancies persist in the addon's own data file. Cultivation's own abode data is never written to.
  • The room's cosmetic name exists in the data and is shown in status, but this release has no command to set it — every rented room is called "The Rented Room".

What it needs

  • Cultivation 0.9.2 or newer — the manifest will stop an install on anything older.
  • Hytale Update 6 (Server API 0.6.x).
  • Server-side only. Your players install nothing.

Version history

    • Built against Hytale Server API 0.6.2, the Update 6 release line. Requires Cultivation 0.9.2 or newer.
    • Rent a personal Cave Abode to one tenant for a percentage of the Spirit Spring; tenant-side collection from inside the abode; eviction that works offline.
    • Master switch and share floor/ceiling in the config.
    • Every message in the landlord's own voice, in all five locales.
