Premium does not build a second mod beside Mermaids. Everything it adds registers into the menus that are already there, so a premium color sits in the same list as a free one and a premium companion swims in exactly the way the base one does.
That is the whole design: nothing to learn, nothing to open, no separate screen. You install it and the lists are longer.
At a glance
- 215 tail colors registered into the base color menu, across 13 families
- 18 companion species across three sections — Reef, Drift and Shallows
- Werewolf and Vampire races, reworked
- Endless Leveling race integration
Tail colors
The base mod ships 8. Premium adds 215 more, in the same menu, sorted into one captioned section per family.
- All thirteen of the game's own gradient sets — Skin (47), Hair (30), Eyes (18), Faded Leather (17), Colored Cotton, Pastel Cotton and Flashy Synthetic (15 each), Shiny Fabric (14), Fantasy Cotton (13), Fantasy Cotton Dark (12), Jean (10), Ornamented Metal (6) and Rotten Fabric (3).
- Every color is generated from the game's own gradient asset, not hand-listed — an id that does not exist cannot be emitted, which is how the old hand-written list quietly shipped two tails with no gradient at all.
- Premium used to open its own separate customization page. It does not any more: there is one mermaid menu for everyone, whether or not Premium is installed.
- If the server turns on tail-color permissions, each color derives its own node — mermaids.color.shinyfabric.red, or a whole family at once with mermaids.color.shinyfabric.*. Off by default, so nothing is gated unless an owner chooses to gate it.
Eighteen companions
Picked from the Companion category in the mermaid menu, beside the base mod's own two.
- Reef — Chevron Tang, Lemon Peel Tang, Sailfin Tang, Pufferfish, Bluegill and Minnow.
- Drift — Blue, Cyan, Green, Red and Yellow Jellyfish, and the Man O' War. These trail behind you rather than swimming.
- Shallows — Crab, Lobster, Trilobite, Black Trilobite, Salmon and Rainbow Trout.
- Each behaves exactly like the base companion: swims in from a distance, follows you in the water, darts off when you leave, and cannot be hurt or killed.
- Switching is instant — the fish you had swims off, the one you picked swims in. No relog, no waiting.
Endless Leveling races
Optional. Present only if Endless Leveling is installed alongside.
- Mermaid, Werewolf and Vampire each become a full race line inside Endless Leveling's ascension system — base form, multiple paths, a final form.
- Three custom passive types built for them — Tidal Affinity, Mermaid Aura and Moonlight — each shared across the races that use it rather than being one-off effects.
- Every race carries an Innate Attribute Gain, a small automatic boost to one base stat simply for being that race.
- Werewolf and Vampire were rebuilt on the current race system in v1.1.1, rather than kept on their original bespoke handling.
What it needs
- Mermaids 3.3.0 or newer — required. The companion registry Premium's 18 species slot into does not exist before that version.
- Endless Leveling Core 12.0.0 or newer — optional, and only for the race integration above.
- Server-side only. Your players install nothing.
- Remove Premium and nobody loses their companion: a player who picked one falls back to the base clownfish, and their choice is remembered for if it comes back.
Version history
- Updated to run against Hytale Server API 0.6.0-pre.13.1 (Update 6 pre-release).
- EndlessLevelingCore optional-dependency floor raised to 12.0.0, matching the version this build's race integration was verified against.
- No new colors, companions, or gameplay changes in this pass — this is a compatibility release.
