Mythical Creatures

On top of the original Mermaid transformation, the mod is a full Mythical Creatures framework: players can be a Mermaid, a Werewolf, a Vampire, or – new in 4.0.0 – a Lamia.

Each creature has its own:

  • Menu, opened with /mermaids for the Mermaid or /mc werewolf, /mc vampire and /mc lamia for the others.
  • Toggle setting, so players can opt in or out of that creature individually.
  • Config file and admin settings, all editable from the in-game Server Settings menu.
  • Transformation particles, and custom model and cosmetic handling that keeps your own skin, hair and cosmetics.

A player can only be one Mythical Creature at a time. You pick your active form in the Mythical Creatures menu (/mc); the others are switched off while it is selected, and changing creature cleanly swaps you out of the old model first. If a form will not take, /mc notransformation (or /mc whynot) walks every gate between you and it and says which one is in the way.

Available Mythical Creatures

  • Mermaid – transform in the water for the Curve Tail, faster swimming, water breathing and night vision.
  • Werewolf – transform at night or during certain moon phases, and howl to rally your pack.
  • Vampire – always transformed, or only after dark; drain blood from the damage you deal.
  • Lamia – new in 4.0.0: your own upper body over a long serpent tail, on land and in water.

Potions

The Mermaid, Werewolf and Vampire each have a Small, Medium and Large transformation potion, brewed at the Mermaids Workbench. A Small potion grants 5 minutes, a Medium one 15 minutes, and a Large one 48 hours. Drinking another while one is active adds its time to what is left, and the timer keeps counting while you are logged out. A potion is refused with a message, not silently, if the server’s settings or a race lock say that creature cannot be granted by a potion.

The permanent transformations live in the Elixirs of Eternal Transformation – one per creature, never craftable, handed out by an admin. /mermaids permpotionremove clears either kind. The Lamia has no potions: choosing her is the transformation.

Mermaids Codex

/mermaids codex tracks how far you have come across the creatures – how many times you have transformed, how many potions you have drunk and brewed, and how many looks you have saved as presets – each with its own Bronze, Silver and Gold milestone. Progress is saved, and a milestone is permanent once earned.
